I know, we’re 4 days late for our 12 month update. I’ve felt so much pressure this past month to come up with the perfect 1st birthday post for Addison. I was trying to pick the right wording, the right pictures, the right message. But when her birthday rolled around, I decided what we needed more than the perfect social media post was a day (or three) to unplug and just enjoy the time together. I want to soak up this season and not have to plan content, or get the right angle with my iPhone. I want the memories to be engraved in my mind, not saved on my iCloud.
I’m super grateful that I stuck with taking monthly pictures of her to watch her grow. It’s crazy to see how much she has changed in 12 months! Before Addison was born, an entire year could pass without me hardly noticing. Now, I’m counting nanoseconds as she continues to grow.
12 MONTH GROWTH
We’ve crossed over the 19 lb mark and are sitting right around 19.5 lbs. We have her well baby check in a couple of days, so I’m excited to see her actual weight and height from that! She is still stuck in size 3 diapers and she is quite the little peanut!
EAT
Addi still drinks bottles (we use these from Smilo), but only a few times a day (usually morning/afternoon, and night). I’m completely terrified to take away her night time bottle, so we are just going to give that a little more time. We are mixing 1/2 and 1/2 with whole milk now, and she is taking that really well! Addi loves all food, all the time. She never turns food down, and doesn’t stop until we take it away. Last week she ate 3 portions of goulash. Our favorite go to meals are casseroles, deli meat/cheese/crackers, eggs, toast, fruit cups, and veggies!
CLOTHES
Almost all of our 9 month clothes are too small, and we are settling in to our 12 month clothes. I’m excited that we will hopefully get a little more wear out of our outfits now that we’ve hit a little plateau with growth. We also started wearing our fleece snowsuit, just a little bit earlier than we had hoped!
12 MONTH PLAY & DEVELOPMENT
I would like to say she is so close to walking, but Addison isn’t super interested in walking. She knows she can get from point A to point B just by crawling, so she is sticking with that. We’ve been practicing, and she does really well holding one hand and walking, and has taken about 3 steps, but the interest just isn’t there. I’m sure it will just happen over night.
Addison loves music, and when any music is playing she loves to dance. She also loves her baby dolls, and holds them and rocks them. She’s been saying mama and dada for a few months, and has started saying “Hi” really well this month, and has perfected her waving skills. I think the next word will be puppy or Charlie, because she loves spending time with her puppy dog.
We started implementing a few words with sign language, and she has mastered “more” and “all done”. That’s probably all she will learn too, because those are the only ones I know 🙂 #momoftheyear
